What Was So Special?

During our pre portrait consultation I discovered that Fall is the favorite time of year for the parents of this child. They wanted a natural look to the portrait but with a seasonal theme.  I searched until I found just the right location and then arranged the background and "props" so that we could achieve the desired look. Since this is a young boy who tends to be a bit energetic the metal washtub served two purposes. First, it is a nice prop, but secondly it kept our subject from wandering around and made it easier for him to focus his attention toward the camera. It also helped a lot that I had met the child before the photography session and was not a stranger to him. We made the whole session a "play time" for the child which helped us to get such a wonderful look of joy on his face.
